The Gloucester House and Durham Court regeneration project in South Kilburn comprises the demolition of existing 1960s and 70s social housing, currently providing 209 dwellings, and the construction of 236 high quality new homes, an energy centre for the South Kilburn Neighbourhood Heating System, replacement play space, associated landscaping, general public amenity space and car parking.
The project forms part of the wider South Kilburn Regeneration Programme for the London Borough of Brent. The key objective for the regeneration of the estate is to create a safe and sustainable development that allows community life to flourish.
The fire strategy was developed in close consultation with the client and Local Authority Building Control. With the complex mix of town houses, maisonettes and apartment blocks across the site, along with the different architects, The Fire Surgery developed suitable fire safety principles for ventilation to common corridors for means of escape and fire fighting that could be used across the site.
