St Michael's Mount is a small tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall, England. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650. The earliest buildings, on the summit, date to the 12th century.
Through our close working relationship with the National Trust, we were appointed to assess and develop a suitable evacuation strategy for the Castle.
In the peak summer season, a high number of tourist visit the castle and a strategy was needed to demonstrate that escape could be made safely out of the castle. Active and passive systems were recommended in keeping with the features within the castle and an operational evacuation plan was developed.
