Founded in 1845 by William Aldwin Soames, Brighton College is an independent co-ed boarding and day school based on Eastern Road in Brighton. The school accommodates both boys and girls from the ages of 11-18.
The school's principal buildings are in the gothic revival style by Sir George Gilbert Scott (flint with Caen stone dressings, 1848–66).
The new Science and Sports building comprises of four storeys (campus level, field level, first floor, and second floor), plus an occupied roof. The building includes new science classrooms on the first and second floors, with athletic facilities such as a sports hall, an indoor running track, a swimming pool, weight room, change rooms and other ancillary spaces on the campus and field levels. In addition, the building includes a public café at field level, a car park at campus level, and an additional running track and VIP spectator viewing area on the roof.
