The Fire Surgery has been appointed to provide fire engineering support to the new Phase 1 redevelopment of the Sussex County Cricket Ground located in Hove, East Sussex.
The proposed Phase 1 development will include replacing several buildings facing onto Eaton Road with a new mix-use development comprising 37 apartments, a new bar/restaurant, flexible commercial space, and a much more visible and attractive entrance to the Ground. There will be car parking at basement level. The scheme is designed by ECE Architecture.
The design draws references from the white chalk cliffs of Sussex and some of the architectural gems in the city, such as the Van Alen building and the art deco Embassy Court.
The proposed developments will provide for highly sustainable new commercial space and homes. Buildings will be highly energy and water efficient, meeting and exceeding the Building Regulations requirements and an Excellent BREEAM rating where applicable. Solar panels, heat recovery units, underfloor heating, low air leakage highly insulated building envelope, electric car charging, residents travel plan encouraging sustainable transport are some of the initiatives.
