The Fire Surgery was employed by the National Trust to develop the fire strategy for the revitalized 18th century Neo-Palladian mansion in south Worcestershire. Highlights of the fire strategy include:
a safe evacuation strategy using evacuation modelling and utilising existing escape stairs and 725mm doors
demonstrating that existing construction provided a sufficient level of fire resistance from historic fire test data.
Using fire dynamics calculations to justify the use of Robert Adam listed doors, without alteration, as part of escape stair enclosures
creating evacuation management procedures to mitigate the need for modern exit signs within historic spaces.
Winning best fire strategy of the year 2015 the Society of Fire Protection Engineers stated The Fire Surgery have competently demonstrated how the application of fire engineering can reconcile the preservation of Historic buildings".
