4 Kingdom Street is a new 10 storey commercial office building at Paddington Central in London. The building, designed by Allies and Morrison Architects for British Land, is based over 10 upper floors from podium level and will offer grade A commercial offices for letting. Of interest to the fire strategy was the structural fire engineering. Working with Vulcan solutions, The Fire Surgery were able to demonstrate a reduce period of fire protection to the load bearing elements of structure. Then, using finite element analysis were able to show that a number of load bearing elements could remain unprotected without compromising the performance of the structure during a fire.
